GU13 Nevada State Cup Champions 2008

TheVVFA GU13 '95 Select went to Reno this weekend to participate in the Championship Round of the Nevada State Cup. On Saturday May 10th, we faced the number one seed from the North, the Nevada Netrippers. It was a hard fought game and after going down 1-0, the girls came back in the second half showing great courage and resolve and we won 2-1 even though we didn't play our best game. This enabled us to play in the State Cup GU13 Championship game against the defending Regional Champion Neusport '95 Green team. We had already locked in a trip to the regional tournament in Hawaii next month, but our girls were determined to go there not as a wild card but as State Champions! They went out in the first half and took the game to Neusport, creating many chances, one of which resulted in a top class goal being scored by Stephanie Sander after a great dish by Alyssa "YaYa" Gomez. In the second half the girls defended with discipline and intelligence and when the whistle blew - we were CHAMPIONS!! Congratulations to our State Champion GU13 VVFA '95 Select!
